FAQS

I started researching my family history in the beginning of 2000, at that time little was known of most of my ancestors. I spent a great deal of time on the Internet searching for clues, I also visited many graveyards and it was only after discovering my 2nd Great Grandfather - Nathan Pickles that any progress was made.
At that time I also met Janet Ogden who was also researching her Pickles family in Wilsden to whom I am grateful for her help and knowledge of Family History Research.
From that time I have discovered my ancestors that you see on this website, I am fairly confident of most of the data, but if anyone has any other information please contact me.

A major problem has been the number of Pighills/Pighells/Pickles families throughout the years that all named their sons with the same christian names, obviously named after fathers and uncles. I have also found them described as a variety of spellings of Pickles in Parish Registers etc. yet many have their name spelt Pickles on their gravestones.
I have also discovered that the Pickles/Pighells/Pighill families have been associated with the church at Haworth over a period of six hundred years.
It would appear though that many originate from the parish of Keighley but I believe that this might have been just down the road from Haworth around Goose Eye and Laycock

Janet has a website with her Pickles family and others branches of her family
